Takbir of Eid

الله أكبر، الله أكبر، الله أكبر، لا إله إلا الله والله أكبر، الله أكبر ولله الحمد

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd.

Meaning: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest, and to Him is all praise.

Sunnahs of Eid ul-Adha

  1. Take a ghusl (full bath) before going to the Eid prayer.
  2. Wear clean, beautiful clothes — the best you have.
  3. Apply perfume (for men).
  4. Refrain from eating until after the Eid prayer (ideally until you eat from your Qurbani meat).
  5. Walk to the Eid prayer ground if possible.
  6. Recite Takbir aloud while going to and returning from the Eid prayer.
  7. Take different routes when going to and returning from the Eid prayer.
  8. After Eid prayer, offer Qurbani (animal sacrifice) if financially able, and distribute the meat in three parts: family, relatives & friends, and the poor.
