Takbir of Eid

الله أكبر، الله أكبر، الله أكبر، لا إله إلا الله والله أكبر، الله أكبر ولله الحمد

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd.

Meaning: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest, and to Him is all praise.

Sunnahs of Eid ul-Fitr

  1. Take a ghusl (full bath) before going to the Eid prayer.
  2. Wear clean, beautiful clothes — the best you have.
  3. Apply perfume (for men).
  4. Eat an odd number of dates (or anything sweet) before going to the Eid prayer.
  5. Pay Zakat al-Fitr (Fitra) before the Eid prayer — it is wajib on every Muslim who has the means.
  6. Walk to the Eid prayer ground if possible.
  7. Recite Takbir aloud on the way to the Eid prayer.
  8. Take different routes when going to and returning from the Eid prayer.
