Sahih Muslim — Hadith #15015

Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us (saying): Abdul Aziz ibn Abi Hazim narrated to us from his father, from Yazid ibn Ruman, from Urwa, from Aisha, that she used to say: "By Allah, O my sister's son! We used to see the crescent moon, then another crescent moon, then another crescent moon, we saw three crescent moons in two months, and no fire was lit in the houses of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Urwa said, I asked: "O aunt, what was your livelihood then?" She replied: "Two black (i.e., dried) dates and water! However, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had some neighbors from the Ansar, and they had milking cows." They would send milk to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he would give it to us to drink.” (Explanation 2979 DA)
