Hadith #15024
روى لنا محمد بن المسنّة وابن بشار. اللفظ عن ابن المسنّة. (قالا): روى لنا محمد بن جعفر. (قال): روى لنا شعبة عن سماك بن حرب. (قال): سمعت النعمان يخطب. قال: ذكر عمر أن الناس يصنعون الخبز من الدنيا، وقال: «إني رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يكافح طوال اليوم، لا يجد حتى تمرة رديئة يسد بها بطنه». (شرح ٢٩٧٩ د)
Muhammad ibn Musanna and Ibn Bashshar narrated to us. The wording is from Ibn Musanna. (They said): Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us. (He said): Shu'ba narrated to us from Simak ibn Harb. (He said): I heard Nu'man delivering a sermon. He said: Umar mentioned that people make bread from the world, and he said: "Indeed, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) struggling all day long, unable to find even bad dates to fill his stomach." (EXPLANATION 2979 DA)
