Sahih Muslim — Hadith #7627

Narrated by Hasan bin Ali al-Hulwani: He said: “Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, Hammam informed us, he said: ‘Abū Dawud al-A’ma entered upon Qatadah, and when he stood up, they said: “This man claims to have met eighteen warriors from the Battle of Badr.” Qatadah said: “This man hardly ever asked for hadiths before the plague; he showed no interest in seeking hadiths, nor did he discuss them [with scholars]. By Allah, al-Hasan never narrated to us from a witness of Badr without an intermediary; and Sa’id bin al-Musayyib only narrated to us from a witness of Badr without an intermediary from Sa’d bin Malik.”’”
