Sahih Muslim — Hadith #7648

Narrated by Abu Ja'far ad-Darimi: Bishr ibn Umar reported to us: I asked Malik ibn Anas about Muhammad ibn Abd ar-Rahman, who narrates from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, and he said, "He is not trustworthy." I asked him about Salih, the freedman of at-Taw'amah, and he said, "He is not trustworthy." I asked him about Abu al-Huwayrith, and he said, "He is not trustworthy." I asked him about Shu'bah, from whom Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrates, and he said, "He is not trustworthy." “I asked him about Haram ibn Uthman, and he said, ‘He is not trustworthy.’ I asked Malik about these five people, and he said, ‘They are not reliable for hadiths.’ I asked him about another man whose name I have forgotten, and he said, ‘Have you seen him in my book?’ I replied, ‘No.’ He said, ‘If he were trustworthy, you would have seen him in my book.’”
