Sahih Muslim — Hadith #14407

Sulaiman ibn Ubaydullah Abu Ayyub al-Ghaylani narrated to us (saying): Abu Amir (i.e., al-Aqadi) narrated to us (saying): Umar (this person is Ibn Abi Zaida) narrated to us from Abu Ishaq, who narrated from Amr ibn Maymun (saying): If someone says ten times, [La ilahe illallahu wahdehu la sharike lehu lehu'l-mulk wa lehu'l-hamd wa huve ala kulli shay'in qadir] = There is no god but Allah, He has no partner, the dominion is His, and all praise is due to Him, and He is capable of all things, it is as if he has freed four people from the descendants of Ishmael. Sulaiman (said): Abu Amir narrated to us. (said): Umar narrated to us. (said): Abdullah ibn Abi al-Safar narrated to us from al-Sha'bi, who narrated from Rabi' ibn Husaym, a similar narration. The narrator (said): I asked Rabi', "From whom did you hear this?" He said, "From Amr ibn Maymun!" So I went to Amr ibn Maymun and asked, "From whom did you hear this?" He said, "From Ibn Abi Layla!" So I went to Ibn Abi Layla and asked, "From whom did you hear this?" He said, "From Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. He used to narrate it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
