Sahih Muslim — Hadith #7644

Narrated by Ishāq bin Ibrāhīm al-Hanthalī [bin Rāhwayh]: He said: “I heard one of the companions of Abd Allah [bin al-Mubārak] say, Ibn al-Mubārak said: ‘What an excellent man Baqiyyah is, if he did not give nicknames to those who were known by their birth names, and vice versa. For a long time he referred to us from Abī Sa’īd al-Wuhāthī, then, upon investigating, [we discovered that] it was Abd ul-Quddūs.’”
