Sahih Muslim — Hadith #8991

Has told us [Ishaq bin Ibrahim Al Hanzhali] has told us [Yahya bin Adam] has told us [Al Fudlail bin Marzuq] from [Syaqiq bin 'Uqbah] from [Al Barra` bin 'Azib] he said; "Guard by you all the existing prayers" this verse came down during the Asr prayer, so we read it as Allah pleased for a while, then Allah blessed it until the verse came down "Guard by you all the existing prayers and wustha prayers" (QS. Albaqarah 238), Then someone who was sitting with Fudlail bin Marzuq said to Syaqiq "The wustha prayer referred to is the Asr prayer," Then Al Barra commented; I have told you how the verse came down and how Allah confirmed it, and Allah knows best." Muslim said; And this hadith was also narrated by [Al Asyja'i] from [Sufyan Ats Tsauri] from [Al Aswad bin Qais] from [Syaqiq bin 'Uqbah] from [Al Barra` bin 'Azib], said Al Barra`, we read it with the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam, for some time, such as the hadith of Fudlail bin Marzuq
