Sahih Muslim — Hadith #12947

Abu Kurayb and Muhammad b. Musanna also narrated this hadith to us. (They said): Abu Muawiya narrated a similar hadith to us from A'mash, from Abu Hazim, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Bukhari included this hadith in the chapters "Food" and "Blessings," Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah in "The Book of Food," and Tirmidhi in "The Book of Piety," from various narrators. It is criticized with words like: lacking salt, too sour, too thick, too clear, or undercooked. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was an example in all matters, including dining etiquette. Although we saw in one hadith that he did not eat lizard meat, this was not because he disliked it or turned his nose up at it, but rather to indicate that he did not desire this food. Otherwise, he never criticized any of the worldly pleasures.
