Sunan an-Nasa'i — Hadith #24300

Amr bin Ali told us, he said, Yahya told us, he said, Malik told us, on the authority of Rabi’ah, on the authority of Hanzalah bin Qais, he said, I asked Rafi’ bin Khadij. Regarding renting land, he said, “The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbade renting land. I said, ‘With gold and paper.’ He said, ‘No. He only forbade it for what He comes out of it, but as for gold and silver, there is no problem. It was narrated by Sufyan al-Thawri, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of Rabi’ah, but he did not narrate it from the chain of transmission.
