Hadith #1706
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، - الْمَعْنَى - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ - عَنْ سَالِمِ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ
" عَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً فَإِنْ جَاءَ بَاغِيهَا فَأَدِّهَا إِلَيْهِ وَإِلاَّ فَاعْرِفْ عِفَاصَهَا وَوِكَاءَهَا ثُمَّ كُلْهَا فَإِنْ جَاءَ بَاغِيهَا فَأَدِّهَا إِلَيْهِ " .
Muhammad bin Rafi’ and Harun bin Abdullah narrated to us - meaning - they said: Ibn Abi Fudaik narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Dahhak - meaning Ibn Uthman - on the authority of Salem Abi Al-Nadr, on the authority of Busr bin Saeed, on the authority of Zaid bin Khaled Al-Juhani, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was asked about the shot and he said “ “Know it for a year, and if its seeker comes, then return it to him. Otherwise, find out what is in it and how long it lasts, then all of it. Then if its seeker comes, return it to him.” .
