Sahih Muslim — Hadith #15026

(…/…) Abu Abdur Rahman said, One day three men came to Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him). I was sitting with him. They came and said, “O Abu Muhammad! We have nothing, we have no means of supporting our family, no riders, no furniture.” Then he said to them, “I will do whatever you ask. If you wish, come to me. I will give you what Allah has written in your destiny. If you wish, I will discuss you with the king. And if you wish, be patient. I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say that on the Day of Judgment, the poor emigrant will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy individuals.” Hearing this, they said, “We will be patient and will not ask anyone for anything.” (Islamic Foundation 7193, Islamic Center)
