And from Abu Dawud: A similar narration on the authority of Abu Ayyash al-Zarqi, and he added: {It was in Usfan} 1.1 - Sahih. Narrated by Abu Dawud (1236) and his wording: On the authority of Abu Ayyash al-Zarqi, who said: We were with the Messenger of God. God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in Usfan, and on the polytheists, Khalid bin Al-Walid. We prayed the noon prayer, and the polytheists said: We have been caught by surprise. We have been caught unawares. If we had attacked them while they were in prayer, then the verse about shortening was revealed. Between noon and afternoon, when afternoon came, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, stood up, facing the Qiblah and the polytheists in front of him. He formed a line behind the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and another row after that row. So the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, bowed and they all bowed, then he prostrated and the row after him prostrated, and the others stood up and guarded them. When these two prostrations and stood up, the others who were behind them prostrated, then the next row fell behind. To the position of the others, and the last row advanced to the position of the first row, then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, knelt and they all kneeled, then he prostrated and the row next to him prostrated, and the others stood up guarding them. When the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and the next row sat down, the others sat down, and he greeted them all, so they prayed it in Usfan, and they prayed it on the day of Banu Sulaym.
