وَعَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطَاهُ غَنَمًا يقسمها على صحابته ضحايا فَبَقيَ عتود فَذكره لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «ضَحِّ بِهِ أَنْتَ» وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أصابني جذع قَالَ: «ضح بِهِ»
On the authority of Uqba bin Amir: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, gave him sheep to divide among his companions as sacrifices, but Awad remained, so he mentioned it to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said: “Sacrifice it yourself.” And in a narration I said: O Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, a stump struck me and said: “Sacrifice it.”
