Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #48692

On the authority of Saad bin Abi Waqqas, he said: We went out with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, to go to Mecca, we want Medina. When we were close to Azuza, he came down and raised his hands. So he called upon God for an hour, then fell down, prostrating, and stayed for a long time, then he got up and raised his hands for an hour, then fell down, prostrating, and stayed for a long time. Then he got up and raised his hands for a while, then fell down, prostrating, saying: “Indeed, I asked my Lord and interceded for my nation, so He gave me a third of my nation, so I fell down, prostrating to my Lord, giving thanks.” Then I raised my head and asked my Lord for my nation, and He gave me a third of my nation. So I fell down, prostrating to my Lord in thanks. Then I raised my head and asked My Lord is for my nation, so He gave me the other third, so I fell down, prostrating to my Lord in thanks.” Narrated by Ahmed and Abu Dawood
