وَعَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَهُ الْمَوْتُ فِي زَمَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رجل: هيئا لَهُ مَاتَ وَلَمْ يُبْتَلَ بِمَرَضٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَيْحَكَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَوْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ ابْتَلَاهُ بِمَرَضٍ فَكَفَّرَ عَنهُ من سيئاته» . رَوَاهُ مَالك مُرْسلا
And on the authority of Yahya bin Saeed, he said: Death came to a man in the time of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and a man said: Good luck to him. He died and was not afflicted with a disease. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Woe to you! How would you know if God had afflicted him with an illness and atoned for him some of his bad deeds?” Narrated by Malik mursal
