On the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “O Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah, do not ask for leadership.” If you are given it for a question you are entrusted to it, and if you are given it for a question other than a question, you will help it with it, and if you swear an oath and you see Other than it is better than it, so make amends for your oath and give that which is better.” And in a narration: “So go for what is better and make amends for your oath.”
