Hadith #50993
وَعَن عُتبةَ بن عبدٍ السُّلميِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا تَقُصُّوا نَوَاصِيَ الْخَيْلِ وَلَا مَعَارِفَهَا وَلَا أَذْنَابَهَا فَإِنَّ أَذْنَابَهَا مَذَابُّهَا وَمَعَارِفَهَا دِفاءُها وَنَوَاصِيهَا مَعْقُودٌ فِيهَا الْخَيْرُ» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ
On the authority of Utbah bin Abd al-Sulami that he heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say: “Do not trim the horses’ forelocks, their hooks, or their tails. “Her tails are her refuge, her acquaintances are her warmth, and her forelocks are knotted with goodness.” Narrated by Abu Dawood
