Hadith #52353
On the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, who said: “The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by the graves of Medina, turned his face towards them, and said: ‘Peace be upon you, O people of the graves. May God forgive us and you. You are our predecessors, and we are following in your footsteps.’” This was narrated by al-Tirmidhi, who said: It is a good hadith. 1.1 - Weak. It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1053), who said: It is a good and strange hadith. I say: This hadith It is weak due to the weakness of its chain of transmission – even though there is some supporting evidence – especially since this hadith contains a problematic statement.
