Sahih Muslim — Hadith #4293

Abu Saeed Al-Ashjaj narrated to us, Abu Usama narrated to us, H, and Muhammad bin Al-Muthanna narrated to us, Abd al-Wahhab, meaning Al-Thaqafi, narrated to us, H, narrated to us Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah, Muhammad bin Al-Ala’, and Ishaq bin Ibrahim, all on the authority of Hafs bin Ghayath, and Muhammad told us Ibn Amr Ibn Jablah Ibn Abi Rawwad, Muhammad Ibn Jafar narrated to us, Shu’bah narrated to us, all of them on the authority of Ubayd Allah, on the authority of Nafi’, on the authority of Ibn Omar, and he said, Hafs is from among them on the authority of Omar, with this hadith. As for Abu Usama and Al-Thaqafi, in their hadith it is i’tikaf for the night. The hadith of Shu’bah, and he said, “Make a day for him to seclude himself.” There is no mention of a day or night in the hadith of Hafs.
