Bulugh al-Maram — Hadith #37916

Hadith #37916
قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا رسول الله، أخبرني بعمل إذا فعلته أحبني الله وأحبني الناس. فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: انقطع عن الدنيا يحبك الله، وانقطع عن ما للناس يحبونك. [1584]
He said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allaah! Tell me of an act which, if I do it, will make Allaah love me and people will love me. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Be free from attachment to the world and Allaah will love you. Be free from attachment to what people have and they will love you. [1584]
