Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45261

Abdullah told us, Abu Ubaidah bin Fudayl bin Iyadh told us, and he said, “My name and my nickname are mine.” Malik bin Sa’ir, meaning Ibn Al-Khams, Furat ibn Ahnaf narrated to us, my father narrated to us, on the authority of Rabi’i ibn Harash, that Ali ibn Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, preached in Al-Rahba, so he thanked God and praised Him, then said what God wished him to say. Then he called for a cup of water, so he rinsed his mouth from it, wiped himself off, and drank the rest. his cup while he was standing, then he said, “I have been informed that a man among you hates to drink while standing, and this is the ablution of one who has not done it.” And I saw the Messenger God, may God bless him and grant him peace, did this.
