عَن الْحسن: أَن عمر بن الْخطاب جَمَعَ النَّاسَ عَلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ عِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً وَلَا يَقْنُتُ بِهِمْ إِلَّا فِي النِّصْفِ الْبَاقِي فَإِذَا كَانَتِ الْعَشْرُ الْأَوَاخِرُ تَخَلَّفَ فَصَلَّى فِي بَيْتِهِ فَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: أبق أبي. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
On the authority of Al-Hasan: Omar Ibn Al-Khattab gathered the people around Ubayy Ibn Ka’b, and he would lead them in prayer for twenty nights, and would not pray Qunoun with them except during the remaining half. He stayed behind for the last ten days and prayed at home, and they used to say: Spare my father. Narrated by Abu Dawood
