عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا فِي بَرِيرَةَ: «خُذِيهَا فَأَعْتِقِيهَا» . وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا عَبْدًا فَخَيَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفسهَا وَلَو كَانَ حرا لم يخيرها
On the authority of Urwa, on the authority of Aisha: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to her in Barirah: “Take her and free her.” Her husband was a slave, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, gave her a choice, so she chose herself, and if he had been free, he would not have given her the choice.
