حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدًا يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ، قَالَ خَرَجَ عُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حَاجًّا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِبَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ قِيلَ لِعَلِيٍّ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمَا إِنَّهُ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْ التَّمَتُّعِ بِالْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجِّ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لِأَصْحَابِهِ إِذَا ارْتَحَلَ فَارْتَحِلُوا فَأَهَلَّ عَلِيٌّ وَأَصْحَابُهُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْهُ عُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَلَمْ أُخْبَرْ أَنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنْ التَّمَتُّعِ بِالْعُمْرَةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ بَلَى قَالَ فَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَمَتَّعَ قَالَ بَلَى‏.‏
Yahya told us, on the authority of Ibn Harmala, he said: I heard Sa`id, meaning Ibn al-Musayyab, saying: Uthman, may God be pleased with him, went out for Hajj even if he was In some way, it was said to Ali, may God be pleased with them both, that he had forbidden the transition from Umrah to Hajj, so Ali, may God be pleased with them, said On his behalf to his companions, when he departed, they departed, and Ali and his companions performed the Umrah, but Uthman, may God be pleased with him, did not speak to him about that, so he said to him Ali, may God be pleased with him. Was I not informed that you were forbidden from performing Umrah? He said, “Yes.” He said, “You did not hear the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” May God bless him and grant him peace. He said, “Yes.”
