Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45269

Ibrahim bin Abi Al-Abbas narrated to us, Al-Hasan bin Yazid Al-Asam narrated to us, he said: I heard Al-Suddi, Ismail mentioning it on the authority of Abu Abd Al-Rahman. Al-Sulami, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: When Abu Talib died, I came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: Your uncle, the old man, has died. He said, “Go and wash him, then do not do anything until you come to me.” He said, “So I visited him, then I came to him. He said, “Go, and wash.” Then do not do anything until you come to me. He said, “So I took a bath, then I came to him.” He said, “He made invitations for me with which I am not pleased to have red camels.” Sudha said: When Ali, may God be pleased with him, washed the dead, he did so.
