حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنِي رُكَيْنٌ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً فَجَعَلْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ فِي الشِّتَاءِ حَتَّى تَشَقَّقَ ظَهْرِي قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ ذُكِرَ لَهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَا تَفْعَلْ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الْمَذْيَ فَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ وَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَكَ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَإِذَا فَضَخْتَ الْمَاءَ فَاغْتَسِلْ.
Ubaidah bin Humaid al-Taymi Abu Abd al-Rahman told us, Rukayn told me, on the authority of Husayn bin Qubaisa, on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him. God said on his authority, “I was a man who had a bad night’s sleep, so I started bathing in the winter until my back cracked.” He said, “I mentioned that to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.” And he greeted him, or it was mentioned to him, and he said, “Do not do so. If you see precum, wash your penis and perform your ablution for prayer. If you spit out the water.” So take a bath...
