حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَبُعٍ، قَالَ خَطَبَنَا عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ وَبَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ لَتُخْضَبَنَّ هَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ قَالَ قَالَ النَّاسُ فَأَعْلِمْنَا مَنْ هُوَ وَاللَّهِ لَنُبِيرَنَّ عِتْرَتَهُ قَالَ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ يُقْتَلَ غَيْرُ قَاتِلِي قَالُوا إِنْ كُنْتَ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ ذَلِكَ اسْتَخْلِفْ إِذًا قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنْ أَكِلُكُمْ إِلَى مَا وَكَلَكُمْ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Aswad bin Amir told us, Abu Bakr told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Salamah bin Kuhayl, on the authority of Abdullah bin Saba’, he said he addressed us Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: “By the One who split the seed and healed the soul, let this one of these be dyed.” He said: “The people said, so tell us who he is.” I swear Let us inform his family. He said, “I adjure you by God that someone other than the killer of me should be killed.” They said, “If you have known that, then be a successor.” Then he said, “No, but I will eat you.” To what the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, has entrusted you with.
