Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45787

Muhammad bin Ubaid told us, Mukhtar bin Nafi’ al-Tamar told us, on the authority of Abu Matar, that he saw Ali, a young boy, come and buy a shirt from him. For three dirhams, and he wore it from between the wrists to the ankles, saying, “Praise be to God who has given me feathers.” I do not show myself off to people and hide my private parts with it. It was said: This is something you narrate on the authority of yourself or on the authority of the Prophet of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. He said: This is something I heard from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying when he was wearing the clothing. Praise be to God who has provided me with feathers. I use it to beautify people and cover my private parts with it.
