Hadith #45801
Zakaria bin Adi told us, Ubayd Allah bin Amr told us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ali, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him. God said on his authority: When Al-Hassan was born, he named him Hamza, and when Al-Hussein was born, he named him after his uncle Ja’far. He said, “So the Messenger of God called me.” May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said, “I have been commanded to change the name of these two,” so I said, “God and His Messenger know best,” so he named them Hassan and Hussein.
