Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45808

Abdullah told us, Abu Muhammad told us, Sufyan bin Waki` bin al-Jarrah bin Malih told us, Khalid bin Mukhlid told us, Abu Ghaylan told us Al-Shaybani, on the authority of Al-Hakam bin Abdul-Malik, on the authority of Al-Harith bin Hasira, on the authority of Abu Sadiq, on the authority of Rabi’ah bin Najid, on the authority of Ali bin Abi A student, may God be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, called me and said, “Indeed among you is an example of Jesus whom the Jews hated so much that they slandered his mother.” And the Christians loved him until they put him in a house that was not in him. Indeed, two lovers will perish in me. There is not in me anyone who hates me, who is carried away by my affairs to slander me, saying that I am not a prophet and that nothing has been revealed to me, but I work according to the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. May God bless him and grant him peace, as much as I am able, so whatever I have commanded you to obey God, it is incumbent on you to obey me in what you love and what you hate.
