Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44934

Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Hafs ibn Umar al-Taymi told us, he said: I heard my father saying, I heard my uncle, Ubayd Allah ibn Umar ibn Musa saying: I was With Suleiman bin Ali, may God be pleased with him, a sheikh from Quraysh entered and Suleiman said, “Look at the sheikh, so he made him sit down.” Righteous, for the Quraysh have a right. So I said, O prince, shall I not tell you a hadith that has been reported to me on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace? He said, “Yes.” He said, “I told him.” I have been informed that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Whoever insults Quraysh, God has insulted him. He said, Glory be to God, what The best of this is the one who told you this. He said: It was narrated to me by Rabi’ah bin Abi Abd al-Rahman, on the authority of Sa’id bin al-Musayyab, on the authority of Amr bin Othman. Ibn Affan, may God be pleased with him, said: My father said to me, “O my son, if you are in charge of anything in the affairs of the people, then honor the Quraysh, for I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” May God bless him and grant him peace. He said: Whoever insults Quraysh, God has insulted him.
