وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ كَانَ إِذْ قحطوا استسقى بالبعاس بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّنَا فَتَسْقِينَا وَإِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِعَمِّ نَبِيِّنَا فَاسْقِنَا. قَالَ: فَيُسْقَوْنَ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ
And on the authority of Anas that Omar ibn al-Khattab used to ask for water from al-Ba`as ibn Abd al-Muttalib when they became drought-resistant and said: O God, we were beseeching You through our Prophet, so give us water. And we beseech you because of the uncle of our Prophet, the sinner. He said: They will be given water. Narrated by Al-Bukhari
