وَعَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ وَأَبِي بَرْزَةَ قَالَا: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَرَأَى قَوْمًا قَدْ طَرَحُوا أَرْدَيْتَهُمْ يَمْشُونَ فِي قُمُصٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَبِفِعْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ تَأْخُذُونَ؟ أَوْ بِصَنِيعِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ تَشَبَّهُونَ؟ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَدْعُوَ عَلَيْكُمْ دَعْوَةً تَرْجِعُونَ فِي غَيْرِ صُوَرِكُمْ» قَالَ: فَأخذُوا أرديتهم وَلم يعودوا لذَلِك. رَوَاهُ ابْن مَاجَه
On the authority of Imran bin Husayn and Abu Barza who said: We went out with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, at a funeral, and he saw people who had thrown off their robes. They walked in shirts, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Do you take the actions of pre-Islamic times?” Or by the handiwork of ignorance Do you resemble? I intended to make a supplication against you so that you would return in a form other than yours.” He said: So they took their robes and did not do that again. Narrated by Ibn Majah
