Hadith #49537
On the authority of Abdullah bin Masoud, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin.” It was narrated by Ibn Majah and Al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab Al-Iman, and he said that Al-Nahrani was unique in it and it is unknown. In (Sharh al-Sunnah) he narrated on his authority, saying: Regret is repentance, and the repentant is like one who has no sin.
