عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الْمُتَبَارِيَانِ لَا يُجَابَانِ وَلَا يُؤْكَلُ طَعَامُهُمَا» . قَالَ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ: يَعْنِي المتعارضين بالضيافة فخراً ورياء
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Two people competing with one another shall not be answered, nor shall their food be eaten.” Imam Ahmad said: By hospitality, he means pride and hypocrisy.
