Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #50972

On the authority of Utbah bin Abdul-Salami, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Three people were killed: a believer who strove for himself and his wealth in the cause of God, and when he meets the enemy, he fights.” Until he is killed.” The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said about him: “That martyr who is being examined is in the tent of God under His throne is not favored by the prophets except to the degree of prophecy, and a believer who mixes a good deed with another bad one strives with his life and his wealth in the path of God. When he meets the enemy, he fights until he is killed.” The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said about him: “A cleansing cloth that erases his transgressions and sins. The sword erases sins, and one can enter through any gate of Paradise he wishes. A hypocrite strives with his life and his wealth. When he meets the enemy, he fights until he is killed. That is in the fire, for the sword does not erase hypocrisy.” Narrated by Al-Darimi
