Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #51884

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: They said: O Messenger of God, will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? He said: “Do you have any trouble seeing the sun at noon when it is not under a cloud?” They said: No. He said: “Do you have any harm in seeing the moon on a full-moon night when it is not in a cloud?” They said: No. He said: “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, no.” “You will be harmed in seeing your Lord, just as you are harmed in seeing one of them.” He said: “Then the servant will meet and say: That is to say: Did I not honor you, and make you a ruler, and marry you, and subjugate to you horses and camels, and let you lead And he said, “Yes.” He said, “Did you think that you would meet me?” And he says no Then he says: I may forget you just as you forgot me. Then he meets the second and mentions the same thing. Then he meets the third and says to him the like of that, and he says, “O Lord, I believe in you.” And by your book and by your messengers, and I prayed, and I fasted, and I gave alms. And he praises me as well as I can, and he says: Here, then. Then it is said: Now you will send a witness against you And he thinks to himself: Who is the one who bears witness against me? Then his mouth will be sealed, and it will be said to his thigh: “Speak,” and his thigh, his flesh, and his bones will “speak” with his deeds, and that is so that he will be excused from himself, and that is the hypocrite. And that is what God is displeased with.” Narrated by Muslim.
