Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #52028

On his authority, he said: A Muslim man and a Jewish man cursed him. The Muslim said: By the One who chose Muhammad over the worlds. Then the Jew said: By the One who chose Moses over the worlds. Then the Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew’s face, so the Jew went to the Prophet. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, so he told him what had happened regarding his matter and the matter of the Muslim. So the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, called the Muslim and asked him about that, so he told him, and the Prophet said: May God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “Do not give me the choice over Moses, for people will be shocked on the Day of Resurrection, so I will be shocked with them.” So I will be the first to wake up. Then, behold, Moses was lying next to the throne. I do not know whether he was among those who were struck and woke up before me, or whether he was among those whom God made an exception for.” . And in a narration: “I do not know whether I will be held accountable for being struck on the Day of Tur or resurrected before me? And I do not say that anyone is better than Yunus ibn Matta.” And in a narration Abu Saeed said: “Do not choose between the prophets.” agreed. And in Abu Hurairah’s narration: “Do not prefer among the prophets of God.”
