Hadith #52439
On the authority of Ibn Umar, may God be pleased with them both, on the authority of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he forbade vows and said:
"It does not bring any good; rather, it is a means of extracting something from a miser." Agreed upon. 1.1 - Authentic. Narrated by al-Bukhari (6608) and Muslim (1639), and the wording is Muslim's. In another version of their narration: "It does not avert anything," and the rest is the same. However, in Muslim's version it says: "It is only a means of extracting something from a miser." And in another version of their narration as well: "A vow neither brings anything forward nor delays anything," and the rest is the same.
Narrated by
Abdullah ibn Umar (RA)
