حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَامِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي الْحُوَيْرِثِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ تَمَنَّيْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَاذَا يُنْجِينَا مِمَّا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَدْ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ يُنْجِيكُمْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْ تَقُولُوا مَا أَمَرْتُ عَمِّي أَنْ يَقُولَهُ.
Abu Sa’id, the client of Banu Hashim, told us: Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad and Sa’id bin Salamah bin Abi Al-Hussam told us, on the authority of Amr bin Abi Amr, on the authority of Abu Al-Huwayrith, on the authority of Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mutim, that Uthman, may God be pleased with him, said: I wish I had asked the Messenger of God God, may God bless him and grant him peace, what can save us from what Satan throws into our souls? Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, said: I asked him about that. He said, “It will save you from that if you say what I commanded my uncle to say.”
