Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44908

Ishaq bin Yusuf told us, Awf Al-Arabi told us, on the authority of Ma’bad Al-Juhani, on the authority of Hamran bin Aban, he said, “We were with Uthman bin Affan.” May God be pleased with him, so he called for water and performed ablution. When he finished his ablution, he smiled and said, “Do you know what I laughed at?” He said, “The Messenger of God performed ablution.” God, may God bless him and grant him peace, just as I performed ablution.
