حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ، مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ ذَكَرَهُ حُمَيْدٌ بِصَلَاحٍ ذَكَرَ أَنَّ عَمَّهُ أخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ جَلَسَ عَلَى الْبَابِ الثَّانِي مِنْ مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَا بِكَتِفٍ فَتَعَرَّقَهَا ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ ثُمَّ قَالَ جَلَسْتُ مَجْلِسَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَكَلْتُ مَا أَكَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَنَعْتُ مَا صَنَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Abdullah bin Bakr told us, Humaid al-Tawil told us, on the authority of a sheikh, from Thaqif whom Humaid mentioned with goodness, who mentioned that his uncle told him that he saw Othman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him, sat at the second door of the mosque of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and called on his shoulder. So he sweated it, then he got up and prayed, but did not perform ablution. Then he said, “I sat in the place of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and I ate what the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, ate.” I did what the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, did.
