حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، أَنْبَأَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ ثُمَّ شَهِدْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ بَدَأَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ وَصَلَّى بِلَا أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُمْسِكَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ نُسُكِهِ شَيْئًا فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ‏.‏
Muhammad bin Jafar told us, Muammar told us, Al-Zuhri told us, on the authority of Abu Ubaid, the servant of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, who said, “Then I witnessed Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, after that day of Eid, he began to pray before the sermon, and he prayed without the call to prayer or iqama, then he said I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbidding anyone from abstaining from his rituals for more than three days.
