حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ عَنْ مَوْلَاهُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ اعْتَمَرْتُ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي زَمَانِ عُمَرَ أَوْ زَمَانِ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَنَزَلَ عَلَى أُخْتِهِ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ عُمْرَتِهِ رَجَعَ فَسُكِبَ لَهُ غُسْلٌ فَاغْتَسَلَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ غُسْلِهِ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ نَفَرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فَقَالُوا يَا أَبَا حَسَنٍ جِئْنَاكَ نَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ أَمْرٍ نُحِبُّ أَنْ تُخْبِرَنَا عَنْهُ قَالَ أَظُنُّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُكُمْ أَنَّهُ كَانَ أَحْدَثَ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالُوا أَجَلْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ جِئْنَا نَسْأَلُكَ قَالَ أَحْدَثُ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُثَمُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ‏.‏

Yaqoub told us, my father told us, on the authority of Ibn Ishaq, Abu Ishaq bin Yasar told me, on the authority of Maqsam Abi Al-Qasim, the client of Abdullah bin Al-Harith bin Nawfal, on the authority of his master, Abdullah bin Al-Harith, said: I performed Umrah with Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, during the time of Omar or The time of Uthman, may God be pleased with him, when he descended upon his sister, Umm Hani bint Abi Talib, and when he had finished his Umrah, he returned and a bath was poured for him, so he took a bath. When he finished washing, a group of Iraqis came in and said, “O Abu Hassan, we have come to you to ask you about a matter that we would like you to tell us about.” On the authority of “That is what we have come to ask you.” He said, “The person who was closest to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was Qutham ibn al-Abbas.”
