Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44957

Affan told us, Abu Awanah told us, on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Al-Musayyab, on the authority of Musa bin Talha, on the authority of Hamran, he said: Uthman, may God be pleased with him, was He has bathed once every day since he converted to Islam, so I made an ablution for him one day for prayer, and when he performed his ablution, he said, “I wanted to talk to you.” With a hadith I heard from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Then he said, “It seemed to me not to narrate it to you.” Al-Hakam bin Abi Al-Aas said, “O Commander of the Faithful.” If it is good, then we take it, or evil, then we avoid it. He said, and he said, “I will tell you about it.” The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, performed ablution. This ablution, then he said: Whoever performs this ablution will perform the ablution well, then stand up to pray and complete its bowing. Her prostration atones for what came between it and the other prayer, as long as he did not suffer a fatal injury, meaning a major one.
