Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45294

Abdullah told us, Abu Muhammad told me, Sa’id bin Muhammad al-Jarmi came to us from Kufa, Yahya bin Sa’id al-Umawi told us, on the authority of Al-A'mash, on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Zurr ibn Hubaysh, on the authority of Abdullah, who said: Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to me, my father narrated to us, he narrated to us Al-Amash, on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Zirr ibn Hubaysh, he said: Abdullah ibn Masoud said: We discussed a surah of the Qur’an, so we said: thirty-five, six verses And thirty verses. He said, “So we went to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and we found Ali, may God be pleased with him, conversing with him.” So we said, “We disagreed about the recitation,” and the face of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, turned red. Then Ali, may God be pleased with him, said, “The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” He, peace and blessings be upon him, commands you to recite as you have been taught.
