حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ مَا عِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ نَقْرَؤُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَمَا فِي هَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةِ صَحِيفَةٌ كَانَتْ فِي قِرَابِ سَيْفٍ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ حِلْيَتُهُ حَدِيدٌ أَخَذْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهَا فَرَائِضُ الصَّدَقَةِ.
Abdullah narrated to us, Muhammad bin Aban bin Imran Al-Wasiti narrated to me, Sharik narrated to us, on the authority of Mukhariq, on the authority of Tariq, meaning Ibn Shihab, he said I heard Ali, may God be pleased with him, say, “We have no book to read to you except what is in the Qur’an, and this document is not a document.” It was in the bag of a sword with an iron ornament on it. I took it from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. It contained the duties of charity.
