حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، و عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، و عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَخَيْرُهَا بَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَلَوْ شِئْتُ سَمَّيْتُ الثَّالِثَ.
Yahya bin Adam told us, Malik bin Mughul told us, on the authority of Habib bin Abi Thabit, on the authority of Abd Khair, on the authority of Ali, and on the authority of Al-Sha’bi, on the authority of Abu Juhayfa, on the authority of Ali, and on the authority of Aoun ibn Abi Juhayfa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ali, that he said: The best of this nation after its prophet is Abu Bakr. He was satisfied May God bless him and grant him peace, and the best of them is after Abu Bakr Omar, may God be pleased with him. If you wish, you can name the third.
